Whistler will suit most families. It hits all the right notes with family-oriented accommodation, a pedestrian village, lots of dining choice with good value options thanks to the stiff competition, lots to do off the slopes and plenty of good runs to ski together, and fast, comfy, high capacity lifts to ride back up the mountain together.

If you want time apart, and indeed its usually best to have junior looked after and taught by a third party rather than trying it yourself, Whistler Kids (4545 Blackcomb Way; +1 (604) 932 3434) accepts babies from age three months to 12 years for non-ski daycare (although ski school can be incorporated from age three) and has locations at the base of both mountains.

Ski school and skiing lessons is available from age three and, as you would expect, there are both state-of-the-art facilities on the slopes and a wide range of normally excellent ski school programmes.
