Les Menuires makes a special effort for families. The Tourist Office has created a special welcome booklet for families which is worth picking up on arrival. It lists suitable activities and facilities available in Les Menuires, safety advice and shops that rent children’s equipment (including 4 X 4 all weather pushchairs, baby carrier, toboggans etc.).
Nursery facilities are available in Le Piou Piou (La Croisette, "Village des Schtroumpfs", Les Broujerco; +33 (0)4 79 00 63 79) which accepts children from age three months to six years and includes a special children's restaurant, nursery and play rooms. The ski school has special children’s classes from age two-and-a-half, some of which can run in conjunction with full day nursery care for younger children if required.
Whether or not in ski school, a family lift pass is available designed for families of four with two children aged under 16. It gives a combined price discount of about 20% when a family buys their lift passes together for six days duration and within the same region coverage (Les Menuires area only or the full 3 Vallées. If there are more than two children then all further kids aged under 18 pay the child price, which otherwise ends at age 12.
The main chair lifts that children will use have also been fitted with an innovative new guard rail system to prevent any danger of the child slipping out below the safety bar.
Attractions off the slopes include a snow castle for beginners, a toboggan run, snowmobiling for children, a big leisure swimming pool complex that also has an indoor fun park with trampolines, bouncy castles and a ball pool.
