Serre Chevalier has been a spa destination for at least 2000 years with evidence that the Romans made use of bathing facilities in the warm springs at Monetier-les-Bains.

Happily this spa culture is alive, well and indeed thriving with the excellent Grands Bains du Monetier (+33 (0)4 92 40 00 00; lesgrandsbains.fr) the main attraction.
As well as the large public leisure pool area (see Resort attractions), the facility incorporates a Romano-Irlandais (Roman-Irish) zone for adults only which has outdoor pool, saunas, steam rooms, private shower facilities and a terrace-solarium with hot tub.

The Grand Bains also incorporate a Health and Beauty Institute offering one to five day treatments from an a la carte menu. The long list of options includes hydrotherapy treatments making use of the local mineral water (water-massage baths, jet showers), face and body treatments, scrubs, wraps and toning services.

In addition several of the larger hotels and apartment complexes, including Le Pre des Ors, Ailley, the Best Western Premier and the Hameau du Rocher, have spa facilities of one kind or another, often incorporating indoor or heated outdoor pools, hot tubs saunas, hammams and massage services.
