Vallorcine ski centre is a tiny and unspoiled resort that combines several small hamlets at the head of the Chamonix Valley and for those that love it, all the better for that. A very good choice for those seeking an unspoiled ski area next to one of largely gentle terrain in a self-catered apartment,  you’ll become a well-known ‘local’ in the village's handful of shops and restaurants within just a few days. The accommodation on offer blends in well with the traditional feel of the village. Located at the head of the Chamonix Valley, the famous town itself is 16km (20 minutes) away, but a regional lift pass includes both the local Balme slopes, shared with neighbouring Le Tour, and all the other ski areas in the valley. So while beginners and intermediates looking for unchallenging skiing can just stay in the village and use the new gondola lift which makes slope access swish and easy, those looking for a greater challenge can dip in to other sectors, and anyone can pop over to Chamonix any time for the cosmopolitan range of shops, restaurants and off slope activities there if they wish.
