Vallorcine is an excellent choice for families who just want to spend that often talked about but usually hard to find ‘quality time’ together in an unspoilt environment with few distractions.
The only families who may have some members twiddling their thumbs a little are those with older children looking for more challenges, but even there the ski school will certainly find these for them. Or you can just pop to one of the other more challenging areas for which the Chamonix Valley is famous – however if you ONLY want challenging skiing you will have to travel to it each day.
In terms of childcare The Club des Piou-Piou run by the French Ski School of Vallorcine (ESF) ecole-ski-vallorcine.com) takes children for two hour lessons in the mornings and afternoon and offers free lessons on Sundays. Snow kindergarten is available for children aged four to six and there’s regular French ski school thereafter. All day care is available.
