Vars Mountain Restaurants

Vars has several excellent mountain restaurants for a relaxing lunch, either indoors or more likely outdoors on the sunny terraces taking in the view.

Le Barjo (+33 (0)4 92 46 56 77), 2100m up on the Crévoux piste is particularly good, providing a choice of quality self-service food, a crêperie and sandwich bar. Le Chaudron (+33 (0)6 20 43 08 17) lower down at the foot of the Olympique piste in Vars Sainte Marie is another good stop, serving everything from pizza to a full fondue.
As well as altitude restaurants there are plenty of ski-in places to eat at the base of the slopes. La Passerelle restaurant (+33 (0)4 92 46 53 28) at the base of the Escondus chairlift for example, is a good choice for lunch or dinner, specialising in pizza as well as classics like fondue and raclette (so don’t plan much after lunch if you go for the full cheese experience).

Restaurants in Vars

Vars has about 20, mostly casual, family friendly restaurants so it’s easy to get a relaxed and affordable meal after your day on the slopes. As with most aspects of the resort, the vast majority of dining options are in Les Claux.

L’Arlequin (+33 (0)4 92 46 52 96) is a popular pizzeria and you can also get pizza to eat in or take out at La Marmotte (+33 (0)4 92 46 51 34) but it has a reputation too for its excellent mountain cuisine – raclette and fondues for example.

Not every restaurant is in les Claux however. La Cabane (+33 (0)4 92 51 00 71) down in Sainte Marie acts as bar, salon, restaurant and cyber-cafe in one, while serving up lovely homemade specialities.

Grocery Shops

For food shopping you’ll find traditional boulangeries and other small family-run food stores selling local products. La Veronaie (+33 (0)4 92 46 50 71) is a good example of a boulangerie-patiserie in resort.

There are also small supermarkets including a Spar (Le Pont Show; +33 (0)4 92 46 54 32) and a Sherpa minimarket (Résidence Les Marmottons; +33 (0)4 92 46 62 97;  in Le Claux.
