There’s a vast array of night spots in Aspen, and Snowmass is gaining ground too. The strong competition between venues drives up quality and ensures ever more innovative ideas for the party scene.
There are far too many choices for just a one or two week vacation, but venues worth a look include the Aspen Brewery ( 557 North Mill St.; _+1 (970) 274 9998) is a micro-brewery complete with tasting room serving local beers in frosted glasses.
Eric's Bar (+1 (970) 920 4244) is actually four bars in one – a pool room, cigar bar, cocktail bar and Mexican themed space for margaritas while Galena is owned by local Brooklyn Bill and is a casual hang out, again popular with the locals.
Jimmy's All-American Restaurant and Bar (205 S. Mill St) has over 100 tequilas to try with a live blues band every Friday night and Salsa night on Saturdays.
The J-Bar at the Hotel Jerome (+1 (970) 920 1000) has the style of a Western saloon as it was a century ago when the silver miners came in to celebrate or commiserate their day. Open until 1am, it has a wide variety of draft and bottled beers. Hunter S Thomson was a regular here.
For a more laid back evening in Snowmass the Sage Bar and Living Room at the Snowmass Club (+1 (970) 923 5600) has a casual atmosphere, cosy couches and plenty of Colorado microbrews on tap.
For the ultimate in slack-jawed people watching head to the bar at the Little Nell where we've seen men in full length fur coats or 39 Degrees at the Sky where a much younger and hipper crowd sip cocktails around the pool until the early hours
