Keystone is a good family resort with lots to do on and off the slopes, plus a full range of childcare and ski school options from aged two months to 18 years if you need them.
Nursery provision is available for babies two months and older at the Mountain House base (+1 (970) 496 4181) with ski school possible from age three. Keystone’s ski school (+1 (970) 496 4170) employs more than 450 staff each winter and offers specially tailored tuition according to your child’s age and ability level.
In addition to regular ski school there’s a rich array of special programmes aimed at families, including the ‘family private’ where a family and ski instructor learn together, or a ‘Mom, Dad and Me’ 90 minute lesson of top tips for all. There are many other family-friendly initiatives including a children’s piste map of the slopes.
A new terrain area, Ripperroo’s Forest was added to children’s ski school for the 2010/2011 winter season, named after Keystone’s Children’s Ski School mascot.
Other family activities can include tubing, ice skating or hockey on North America’s largest ice rink, spread over five acres, tubing, sleigh rides, GPS treasure hunts and a lot more besides.
