Mammoth’s ski school runs a number of special camps through the season and if you’re flexible on dates and are looking to up your game on the slopes it’s worth timing your visit to coincide with camp dates. Strong intermediate skiers who are confident on all gradients of trails can sign up for Advanced Ski Camps which will take you off the groomed runs and in to the powder as well as tackling challenges like steep mogul fields. Video analysis and an apres camp party are included.
There are perhaps 100 shops in and around Mammoth (there doesn’t seem to be an official tally) but these are well spread around the town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Village and locations in between.
Mammoth Village is attempting to generate a recreational shopping experience with about a dozen up-market stores so far including Quiksilver, two clothing stores for kids - Trenty Tots and Twendy Treens; luxury leather store First Street Leather and fine clothing shop Ghato. You’ll also find the Mammoth Gallery and the Lingerie Lounge.
There’s are several small malls dotted around Mammoth Lakes and a small factory shopping mall, Mammoth Luxury Outlets, with stores including Polo, Ralph Lauren, Coach and Bass.
