Squaw Valley’s après ski scene pre-dates the development of its slopeside lodging and base village, with a number of venues on the mountain always lively as the afternoon draws to a close. These are now supplemented by new venues down in the village.
On the mountain Alexander's Bar at High Camp is popular as the sun goes down, as is Bar One which is particularly lively at the weekend when there’s live music and dancing as well as rather more novel jelly or mud wrestling! You can also grab a game of pool, but if you want to watch sports TV try the Blue Coyote Sports Grill.
The Auld Dubliner (+1 (530) 584 6041) is the inevitable Irish pub. It has fast become one of Squaw’s most popular après ski spots and is well known for its big meals as well as the abundant Guinness. Meanwhile Japanese bar and restaurant Mamaske (+1 (530) 584 0110) has a beer-and-sushi special from 3-5pm and does a popular saki bomb. The Twenty Two Bistro and Bar (+1 (530) 584 6170) has a good cocktail menu. For an expert view on Californian wine, Uncorked (+1 (530) 584 6090) gives you the chance to taste the wine and then purchase a bottle in the integrated shop.
Le Chamois's Loft Bar is the main late night party venue, popular with locals and guests alike.
