Argentiere Restaurants and Dining

Mountain Restaurants

The Plan Joran mountain restaurant is a large wooden chalet with both self-service and table service areas and a big terrace for eating out on sunny days. The Chalet Refuge de Lognan (+33 6 88 56 03 54) is a still more atmospheric establishment that’s great for traditional mountain cuisine. One of the biggest places is Argentero, which has Italian cuisine and another nice big terrace.

Restaurants in Town

Argentière has a good selection of eateries, the majority lively, casual affairs. Most of the bars listed in the après-ski section also do fast food, with the Stone Bar having a particular reputation for pizza.

Popular venues include Le Dahu (+33 (0)4 50 54 01 55) which serves up the full range of mountain favourites including fondue and raclette, and then some. It has a low priced fixed menu. La Flambée (+33 (0)4 50 54 12 96) is a little bit more expensive but has a similar menu. There are several pizza take-outs in the village, including La Plazza (Galerie Grand Roc; +33 (0)4 50 34 95 08).

Grocery Shops

Argentière has a selection of good traditional French food shops including three boulangeries, all on rue Charlotte Stratton – Au Peche Mignon (+33 (0)4 50 54 10 09) at number 213, La Grange aux Brioches (+33 (0)4 50 54 08 59) at number 209 and Le Fournil Chamoniard (+33 (0)4 50 54 07 08) at number 386.

On the same central street you’ll find cheese and meat shops like La Cheminée (+33 (0)4 50 17 60) at number 191 and Les Séracs (+33 (0)4 50 06 26) at 187. There’s a small Super U supermarket (Payot Pertin, 39 Pl du Marché; +33(0)4 50 54 05 97).
