Arosa Mountain Restaurants

There are eight or so mountain restaurants dotted around the Arosa aki slopes, most of them relatively large but traditional establishments, each with big sun terraces from which you can both soak up the rays and enjoy the stunning views. Thankfully, traditional mountain cuisine with local ingredients, home prepared to a high standard is the norm here.

Examples include The Weisshorngipfel (+41 (0) 81 378 84 02) run by Sandra and Jürg Gadient, The Sattelhütte (+41 (0)81 378 84 07) managed by Erika Riedweg, and (+41 (0)81 378 84 45) operated by Michail Bachtsetzis. The last is located up at 1991m and has 300 sun loungers to enjoy the mountain on. The restaurant has several separate sections including the Hennastall (hen house) and the Raclettbar and the Tschuggenstübli.

Restaurants In Arosa

With about 70 places to eat, the choice of restaurants here is surprisingly large, the fact that many establishments offer very high standards include Gault Millau listed gourmet establishments in less of a surprise. The range of dining options is good too, beyond the usual Swiss Alpine standards you’ll find French, Italian and even Japanese, Mexican and Thai options.

The Eden (+41 (0)81 378 71 00) has both a sushi and sashimi bar, and a tapas bar, the latter open to 1am. If you prefer late night pizza rather than Mexican, Pizzeria Grottino (+41 (0)81 377 17 17), one of half a dozen pizza restaurants in resort, most of which also offer take-out, is also open to 1am. At the other end of the scale the Kachelofa-Stübl (+41 (0)81 378 55 55) and La Vetta (+41 (0)81 378 99 99) are two of the Gault Millau listed gourmet establishments, the former with an impressive 16 points.

Grocery Shops

Fresh local food is the order of the day in Arosa at shops like Cindy's Delikatessen (+41 (0)81 377 50 80) and several others including Heidi's Lebensmittel (+41 (0)81 356 50 51) and Naturladen, Bio- und Reformprodukte (+41 (0)81 377 50 50). For bread, cakes and similar you have several bakeries to choose from including the Widmer Bakers and café (+41 (0)81 377 53 50). The small Coop Center (+41 (0)81 377 33 35) and the Volg Arosa Markt (+41 (0)81 377 21 61) are good for a wider choice of groceries.
