Overview of Crans Montana Ski Resort

Crans Montana ski centre is one of the leading resorts in Switzerland and one of the most successful in the world. Formed from the merger of neighbouring Crans and Montana on a sunny plateau above the Rhone Valley nearly 50 years ago, its 21st century stats are very impressive indeed. The resort stretches for 6km, incorporating accommodation that can sleep more than 50,000 guest beds (putting it in the super heavyweight class for resort size), including five five-star hotels (equalling St Moritz) and there’s a vast range of things to do besides ski or board, including more than 150 shops – again with a huge range right up to the crème de la crème of global fashion – more than 70 restaurants, a casino, the list goes on…

The ski area itself is impressive too with nearly 100 miles of piste ascending up to a snow sure 3000m, crowned by a glacier, but Crans Montana has moved beyond a reliance on winter sports with several golf courses bringing in a strong Spring to Autumn business and many people come here just to shop and pamper themselves in the gourmet restaurants and spas all year round, as well as taking in the wonderful views all around. On a good day you can see the full ‘Imperial Crown’ of the Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, the Matterhorn and the Dent-Blanche.
