Apres ski usually begins in the resort centre where more than 3,000 chocolate chip cookies are handed free to guests as they step off the slopes of Beaver Creek.
After this, many of the resort’s dozen or so venues are smart lounge bars for a relatively quiet night with cocktails or a fine cognac rather than beer and chips. Expect jazz rather than rock music.
Along with ice skating on the central rink the Vilar Performing Arts Centre (+1 (888) 920 2787; vilarpac.org) lays on live theatre, ballet and concerts.
But that’s not to say there aren’t livelier places for those who want them. Coyote Café (+1 (970)949 5001) is the main hangout with live music and ski movies on the screens. The 8100 Mountainside Bar and Grill in the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek (+1 (970) 827 6600) is the best place to try out local Colorado micro brews.
