Apres ski in the traditional Alpine village sense is not really of interest in Deer Valley. The resort is made up primarily of self-contained luxury accommodation complexes and there are few independent bars or similar. So most people spend their evenings enjoying a fine meal and then a quiet drink in one of the more sophisticated hotel lounge bars, or alternatively they head for downtown Park City, just a few minutes away, which by contrast is one of North America’s liveliest ski towns with numerous bars, shops and restaurants lining Main street and adjoining areas, generating a very vibrant nightlife.

Utah’s once strict laws on alcohol sales have also been relaxed in recent years so it is now much less complicated to do something as simple as buying a beer. If there is any après ski scene at Deer Valley it is usually in the Snow Park Lodge complex at the base of the slopes, where the main bar area sometimes has lively live music.
