Families will have a ball at Jackson Hole with its genuinely friendly atmosphere, great facilities, and the fun of the cowboy themed shop and restaurant businesses in downtown Jackson.

The resort has made great efforts on the mountain with its excellent nursery and ski school programmes centred on the Kids Ranch located in the Cody House (+1 (307) 739 2788; – advance booking normally essential). This kicks off with Wrangler Daycare for babies from six months and continues right on through to age 17, with ski school possible from age three.

On the slopes the resort has made the whole mountain, famous for its steep slopes, look decidedly gentle and fun on its special Kids Trail Map) which simply misses out most of the blacks. There’s a great range of ski school programmes from age three. Children are invited to come and experience the delights of Fort Wyoming and Wild West Woods, with an educational ski and snowboard program. The groups are streamed by age and ability right through to late teenage.

Kid’s Night Out is a popular programme (with parents) when children aged 4 to 18 are looked after between 6 and 9pm with an evening of food and entertainment while parents are free.
