Avoriaz is one of our favourite resorts in France. Built in the 60s, it’s one of a few purpose built resorts that has managed to stand the test of time and still looks stylish and cutting edge. The architecture is crazy but beautiful and when walking around at night it kind of feels like you’re walking around some sort of space station in a science fiction movie (in a good way).

The resort has been designed with convenience in mind at all times. It is just an hour and a half from Geneva, and the only resort in France that is truly pedestrianised. Getting around is really easy as everything is walking distance and if you can’t face walking the taxis are horse drawn sleighs.

All accommodation in Avoriaz is ski-in/ski-out and the beginner slopes run right through the centre of town, so it’s really easy for families with children in Ski School or beginners. It is also located slap bang in the middle of the Portes du Soleil ski area, which means that it has the best possible location for exploring the enormous ski area.

Avoriaz is one of those ski resorts that is so hard to “get” if you haven’t actually been there. It’s like no other. You can read all the resort reviews in the world and you will still struggle to really appreciate what the resort is all about.

So Marcus, our Business Development Manager, and I took 2 days to check out the resort and capture its essence in a Video Guide. Have a look and see what you think.
