Avoriaz is a fantastic, family friendly resort with a huge ski area to explore (go on, we challenge you to make it round the whole Portes du Soleil!) but there is plenty more to Avoriaz and lots to entertain little and big kids alike. Whether they need to rest their tired legs and take a break from the piste, or still have energy to burn long after the lifts have closed, this list should keep everyone entertained – here are our Top 5 Favourite Activities in Avoriaz:

1. Aquariaz

Aquariaz is a spectacular water adventure. Pairing the mountain and tropical environments, heated and humidified, the creators brought in over 250 species of tropical plants and trees to create the perfect tropical water park – the highest in Europe! There are several pools to suit all ages as well as a river rapid and huge half-pipe (for the brave ones!). Aquariaz hasn't forgotten about Mum and Dad either, there is a great adults area kitted out with hot tubs to help you relax and ease those ski legs!

2. Best Crêpe in Town

It’s fair to say that after a big day on the slopes we all need an energy boost and when in France a crêpe is always a great choice. Le Fournil de Cannelle is by far our favourite crêperie in Avoriaz and they have a fantastic range of breads and cakes on offer as well to keep the whole family happy! Best of all Le Fournil de Cannelle opens a crêpe stand outside the front of the shop in the afternoon so you can ski by and grab a crêpe on the move!

3. Village des Enfants

This fantastic facility is situated right in the centre of Avoriaz, it is a large purpose built snow garden and learning centre designed to be able to cater for kids for a full day from 9am to 5.30pm. Instructors keep them entertained with a mix of ski lessons in the garden and games, arts and crafts and learning, inside to break the day up. Lunch and tea are also available for kids staying for the full day.

4. Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride

One of the things that makes Avoriaz so great for families, is the fact that it is a car free resort. There are no cars, from the time that you leave your car or transfer on arrival at the top of the resort, you will be directly on the snow with no traffic (excpet skiers) and no roads! Not only does this make it particularly safe for kids walking, skiing or sledging around the village but it also means you can sample the various alternative modes of transport on offer. Sledges are by far the most popular and we have seen many lucky children being towed through the streets, skiing or boarding through the village is also a popular way to get around. We think by far the best option is Horse Drawn Sleigh though, the sleighs roam around the village throughout the day and can be enlisted for a tour or simply to get from A to B as a taxi service. Kids love the chance to pet the horses and riding in the sleigh makes their ski holiday truly magical!

 5. The Stash

The Stash is a wonderful family friendly park area, designed by Burton, natural features dotted between the trees lead down from Avoriaz to Morzine. There is something for all the family down this run as there is a range of features to choose from and anyone who isn't into freestyle has the option to just take the piste, which runs alongside. Fingers crossed you might even catch sight of Shreddie Shred the resident Stash yeti, check out the video below to catch a glimpse of who to look out for...
