Hiring a car can be a quick and easy way to get to your chosen ski resort and allows you the flexibility to travel at your own pace and stop en route to your destination. Car hire also gives you the option to travel between different ski resorts during your holiday.
If you’ve booked a ski apartment and plan to self-cater then car hire means you’ll be able to visit a supermarket or hypermarket on the way to pick up supplies at substantially lower prices than those in resort. Car hire also means you can travel easily between ski resorts that might not be linked by a lift system but are easily accessible by road. This might be useful there are better snow conditions at a nearby resort or if you want more variety during your ski holiday.
If you’re booking car hire, remember you’ll need a good map or portable sat nav, a credit card, both parts of your driving license and in most cases your passport. Always double check whether there are any local charges for border crossings, winter tyres, roof racks or child seats before completing your booking as you don’t want any surprises on arrival.
