  • My family really liked Le Grand Bornand. Le Village de Lessy was an interesting development - it is built in to quite a steep hillside ouut of chalet style buildings that are linked by walk ways and lifts. Overall there are about 20 floors but because they are spread through separate buildings in separate locations no one lift can rise more than 3 or 4 floors - our (very nice) apartment was on the 19th floor so we had to take 5 or 6 lift rides with short walks between the top and bottom of each to get up and down taking 10-15 minutes. This was OK except when we forgot a glove or something and realised at the bottom and had to go all the way back up and down to get it! On the upside the spa was only a floor above. Once down there was a good Spar supermarket on the ground floor and some nice family runs shops and businesses all around including a wonderful deli about 100m up the road. The ski lifts were just across the road (down another lift!) and we really liked Le Grand Bornand and would highly recommend a ski holiday there. Just be prepared for a lot of time in the lift... :)

Spa and Well-being

A beautiful bonus to an already perfect property is the sensational spa which offers treatments by Swiss company ‘After the Rain’. Book yourself in for a massage, facial or similar treatment (you will need to book in advance and pay on arrival). Alternatively enjoy free use of the sauna, Jacuzzi, indoor heated swimming pool and steam room. Dressing gowns can also be hired for a small cost for the week.

Restaurants, Dining & Bars

No trip to Le Chinaillon would be complete with sampling the local dishes. Visit one of the nearby restaurants or bars for this experience. For the more enterprising guest, the hotel offers the use of a raclette and fondue set (free to use but subject to availability). The village is also home to Reblochon cheese which can be used to make delicious tartiflette. There is also a small supermarket (outside partner) located within the residence and a bakery delivery service for a small charge.

Sports & Recreation Facilities

Guests can enjoy variety of facilities that range from working out in the complimentary fitness suite to relaxing by the open fire in the open plan lounge area. The indoor heated swimming pool is available for anyone wishing to take a leisurely swim and the residence offers a selection of games for anyone to borrow. If you are feeling competitive then have a go on the billiards table (Extra charge and subject to availability.)

Families & Children

Le Village de Lessy is close to the slopes making it a popular choice for families. Children will be kept entertained by the TV, free Wifi, indoor pool, billiard tables (extra charge) and the selection of games on offer. Smaller children are catered for with the residence providing cots, bottle warmers, plug protection devices, and high chairs all free of charge (book in advance). Please see 'Children Policies' under 'Accommodation Policies' for important information about location and access.

Location

Le Village de Lessy is located within the Samance area of the small French hamlet of Chinaillon which is about 3km out of the larger village Le Grand Bornand. It is located only 400 metres from two different ski lifts: La Boumerie and La Floria. Please note that the residence is made up of nine different buildings that are interlinked by a lift system. If you are with a family or someone with reduced mobility and would like easy access to the slopes, we would recommend making a request in advance for an apartment near the bottom of the building. Please note that whilst we do our utmost to confirm these requests, we are unable to make any guarantees.

Directions

When you arrive in Chinaillon the residence is opposite the tourist office on the left. To reach the residence by car continue straight on and take the first left turn towards Samance – Lac de Lessy. The reception of the residence is on the left.

It is the guest's responsibility to arrive between the hours of check-in. In the case of late arrival, guests must notify the property reception on the telephone number provided, otherwise access to the apartment cannot be guaranteed.

Security deposit of €400 to be paid at check-in.

Check out

Saturdays - by 10am

End of stay cleaning is included, however this does not cover the kitchen, so to qualify for a full refund of deposit the kitchen should be left clean.

Please note that the residence is made up of a number of buildings connected by a network of lifts. If you are travelling with children we strongly advise you request an apartment close to the bottom of the residence for ease of access to the slopes.
