Steamboat Springs partially grew up as a result of the hot springs it's named after, and visitors today can still visit some of the natural hot springs as well as hotel spas and day spas, both in the town and at the resort base.

The Old Town Hot Springs (136 Lincoln Avenue; +1 (970) 879 1828) is Colorado's original natural hot springs spa resort that has been in business since the 1880s. Located in downtown Steamboat Springs the complex offers four 96-104-degree spring-fed pools with additional facilities including a climbing wall, long water slides, fitness centre, pilates and yoga classes and massage treatments.

A second natural hot spring is located seven miles from Steamboat in a secluded valley. Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs (+1 (970) 879 0342) offers unique stone lined soaking pools, massage services and Watsu therapy.

The newest of the hotel spas is to be found at One Steamboat Place (+1 (970) 875 1000) which opened for the 2009-10 season. It features a tranquil Zen-inspired spa, outdoor pools and additional amenities. The Steamboat Grand Hotel) also has a full-service spa and fitness centre plus an outdoor heated pool and two large whirlpool spas.

Calming Touch (1463 Flattop Circle; +1 (970) 819 7612) is a day spa offering a huge range of massage services, including massages for children, and steam rooms, at two locations both in town and within the EagleRidge Lodge on the mountain. The Rocky Mountain Day Spa (+1 (970) 870 9860) also has two locations, 5th & Lincoln in town, and within the Sheraton Resort at the resort base. It offers a similar huge range of health and beauty treatments including everything from teeth whitening to yoga classes. There are at least five more salons in resort.

Steamboat also has half a dozen hairdressing salons, several beauticians and an oxygen bar (635 Lincoln Ave; +1 (970) 879-6348).
