Family Guide to La Plagne

La Plagne is without doubt one of the best resorts for families in the Alps. Most of the resort is car free and on the snow, making access to the lifts super easy. Most of the accommodation in La Plagne is family friendly apartments meaning a bit of extra room to chill out in the evening and facilities to make your own food at times the suit you. If you do feel like a break from cooking, each base has several family friendly and reasonably priced restaurants.

For the babies in the family there are 16 nurseries spread over the 10 bases of La Plagne. Policies on minimum age differ throughout from 3 months to 2 years, so if you have very young children it is worth checking out the closest nursery before you book your accommodation.

There are Ski Schools taking children age three at each base with lots of snow gardens for the youngest skiers to learn in, along with 18 baby tow ropes and several moving carpet lifts. From age 4 or 5 with the ESF children will begin to work through the standard national French test classes. There are also a selection of excellent British run ski schools, where kids can enjoy lessons from native English speaking instructors.

For the bigger kids, La Plagne has been trying to improve its offer in recent years. Along with the delights of the terrain park and a trip down the bobsleigh run, there are games arcades in several resort bases and paintballing to try from the bottom of the Roche de Mio gondola.
