Located just an hour and a half drive south of Geneva Les Saisies is a great resort to drive to, but not the easiest resort to get to using public transport and in most cases we would recommend car hire.

However this depends on where your residence is located in the village and there is always the option of using the Alpline to arrange private transfers from Geneva, Chambery and Grenoble.

By Plane

Geneva 91km/ 1 hour 30 mins

Probably the best airport for accessing Les Saisies, with a transfer time of around 1hour 30 minutes your best bet here would be to hire a car and drive down.

There is also the option of using Alpine to arrange a private transfer; however these can be quite expensive (www.alp-line.com).

Chambery Airport 93km / 1 hour 20 mins

Again the easiest transfer option from Chambery Airport is car hire. If this isn’t a possibility you can also arrange a private transfer using Ski Lifts

Lyon Airport – 171km / 2 hours 10 mins

The best option in terms of transfers from Lyon is car hire and driving up to resort or arranging a private transfer using Ski Lifts

Turin Airport – 237km/ 3 hours

Other than taking out a second mortgage to pay for a taxi your best bet from Turin is to hire a car and drive up to Les Saisies.

Car Rental

If you require a hire car for your ski holiday, there are a number of fantastic car rental companies based in Europe.

Self-Drive

Having a car in Les Saisies can be helpful if your accommodation is slightly out of town. And let’s face it, no one likes walking after a long and hard day skiing. Driving from Calais will take between 7 and 10 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions.

It is certainly drivable and is actually quite pleasant when your start making your way through the mountains, with some fantastic scenery on show along the way.

If you are travelling in the height of winter, remember to pack all the necessary cold weather driving essentials i.e. de-icer, de-icer in your coolant, a scraper and snow chains. And of course be as careful as possible when driving in snowy/icy conditions.
