Valloire Resort Attractions

If you’re an animal lover, Valloire’s strong natural roots may appeal to you with the chance to visit local farms and buy local milk and Tomme cheese.

A couple of more unusual choices are also on offer. You can go for a winter trek in the company of some local llamas (+33 (0)6 26 23 83 24). These wooly beasts of burden won’t actually carry you, but they will carry any baggage you bring along. If you do want to ride yourself however the local donkey farm (+33 (0)4 79 05 34 07) provides donkey-pulled sledge rides.

Shopping

Not really a shopper's resort, however Valloire does offer some quirky gift shop options among the ski and food shops that make up more than half of the 50 retail outlets in the village. On the other hand, if you adore locally produced French foods and artisan created crafts, Valloire is the resort for you!

All holiday essentials are here including chemist, post office, newsagents and chemists. Gift shops include Aux trésors de Mirande (Galerie Eden Val; +33 (0)4 79 59 29 71); B. Grange (Avenue de la Vallée d'Or; +33 (0)4 79 59 01 94; bernardgrange.com) for books and postcards; Légend'Enhaut (Le Chalet; +33 (0)4 79 83 26 99), Mobilier des Alpages (Rue des Grandes Alpes; +33 (0)4 79 83 17 30) and Un champ de Marguerites (Route des Villards; +33 (0)4 79 56 78 46) for housewares and souvenirs.

The Asinery Farm (+33 (0)4 79 05 34 07) which keeps donkeys, runs a unique line in soaps and other cosmetics made with ass's milk. There’s a village market every Friday morning.
