Although Bourg may lack the convenience of a pedestrianised, ski-in/ski-out resort, the town offers a wide range of family-friendly amenities and services that some higher resorts have to make do without.

In Bourg-Saint-Maurice the main town nursery - the Halte Garderie Pomme d'Api (+33 479 07 59 31) - accepts children aged three months and up. They can only take a maximum of 20 children per day, and those under one year old are accepted for half days only, so it's important to book well in advance.

Les Arcs also has nursery facilities at each level, so one of these may be more suitable for you if you intend to spend the majority of your time up on the slopes. The minimum age of children accepted in each nursery facility varies from three months at Arc 1950 to two years at Arc 2000 so make sure you check this.

The nursery at Arc 1600 La Cachette (+33 479 07 70 50) may be the most convenient for those coming up from Bourg-Saint-Maurice. They accept children from 4 months, with ski school lessons beginning from age three. Again, places are limited so it's important to book in advance.

There's a range of activities to enjoy as a family in Bourg, from swimming to snow shoe excursions to catching a film at the cinema.
