For après ski you have the option of jumping on the gondola at the end of your day on the slopes and heading straight down to the town, or taking in some of the generally livelier action slopeside in Meribel and then getting a later gondola back down – but not too late as the lift closes at five.

Brides-les-Bains itself does not have a reputation for lively nightlife and there are really just half-a-dozen bars you can hang out in of an evening.

Le Centre (+33 (0)4 79 55 20 22) on Rue Emile Machet and Les Gourmets (+33 (0)4 79 24 37 53) on Rue Aristide Briand both stay open to 2am nightly. There’s also Le Parisien (+33 (0)4 79 55 23 22) La Petite Auberge to try.

Besides these the resort does try hard with the tourist office laying on a full programme of ‘animations’ – evening events such as karaoke nights, ice dance parties and much more. Of course the casino is open to 3am (see Resort Attractions).

This is home to several more bars including Jack’s Pub and one of the two night clubs in the town, Blue Night. The other is Le Cythere (+33 (0)4 79 55 21 09) in the Quartier de l'Olympe – all are also open until three each morning, and very French.
